So, the first test session for the new combat rules took place last night with the BIG BATTLE test run...
let me tell you, I like how the new set works on the table top. Reminds me of tactical video games and miniature war games A LOT.
Made some changes though officially to the new system based on input from those of you who made it out and played a bit:
- Can now use an action to move 1/2 listed tactical movement (only once in inclusion to your free movement allotment. Still isn't constant movement in a turn, but still keeps it strategic and tactical and also will make battles go faster)
- Moving into flight mode for a flying character will now cause them to give away their free movement, but can also be used as their movement action option each turn (does not require either one for landing and getting out of flight mode).
NOTE: The Lunge option was mentioned during testing, and was noted that it was a lot weaker now and worthless. After looking over it and discussing it with the other players present, Lunge is actually MORE powerful now then before.
Examples:
- you still get 25% increase to stat roll, increasing chance of critical hit.
- Lunge forces you to move an additional square on the battle map, getting you closer to an enemy and making it VERY useful if you are all out of free movement.
- You may deal slightly less damage from it but you get an increased crit chance, and you can use it more than four times during combat. (AS MANY AS YOU WANT)
Will try out a smaller battle against more powerful enemies next test play, as well as a boss fight to see how it works.
Thanks to everyone who made it! LOVED the input and ideas!
